The Best Vitamin C Products for Brighter Skin

The Best Vitamin C Products for Brighter Skin

Vitamin C, the triple threat of skincare, no it doesn’t sing, dance or act but the well researched benefits are just as impressive. Also known as ascorbic acid, Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant which helps to fight against free radicals and environmental aggressors like UV and pollution which are the main causes of premature ageing.

It stimulates collagen production which helps keep skin plump and firm. Finally, it’s a natural brightener, helping to reduce pigmentation and prevent dark spots from forming. If it’s not already one of your skincare 5 a day then it should be.

But a word of caution, every superhero has an Achilles’ heel and despite all it’s vitamin c is highly unstable and its efficacy can be compromised by sunlight and water, so avoid products in clear bottles unless they are dark and look for formulations packaged in air and water tight containers.

After cleansing and once your face is completely dry, apply your Vitamin C product of choice followed by your moisturiser. Vitamin C can be used during your morning or night time routine but to benefit from its protection I prefer to use it during the day to keep my skin protected from the sun and city pollution.

If brighter, firmer and more radiant skin is your goal then check out our picks of the best vitamin C products that will supercharge even the simplest of skincare regimes.

For an alternative to a Vitamin C spiked serum or oil try LixirSkins Vitamin C Paste. Massage a pea-sized drop onto your face with damp fingers, every morning after cleansing, leave for a few minutes and rinse with a clean towel mitt for radiant, firm skin.
