Best Body Moisturisers To Soothe Winter Skin

Moisturisers are the foundation of my beauty regime. As a beauty editor I’m aware that that probably isn’t the most sexy statement in today’s beauty world of serums, acids and oils etc. all of which are important in a routine but if I could only take one product with me to a desert island (my ideal climate by the way) it would be a moisturiser.
It’s the one product that I couldn’t bear to be without, so much so that I’m always stocked up, purchasing another tub as soon as I’ve opened the last one. I have extremely dry and sensitive skin that feels so uncomfortable, almost painful when it’s dry, especially after being exposed to water, that for me, moisturising is an essential daily task.

Apart from the comfort factor, your skin is the largest organ of the body and healthy skin needs to stay hydrated and nourished, and a good moisturiser can play a key role in hydrating your skin which can become dehydrated through bathing and environmental factors like central heating and cold weather. Key ingredients to look out for when shopping for a body lotion are hyaluronic acid, glycerin, butylene glycol and urea, these are all humectants, they hydrate the skin by attracting water molecules from the air towards the epidermis, which is why applying your moisturiser straight after the shower when the bathroom is still steamy and your skin is damp will also help lock moisture in.

Here are my picks of the best moisturisers from the most luxurious to the light weight formulas all packed with nourishing ingredients to help keep your skin smooth and supple.
